Luke 5:31 “And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.”
After experiencing 6 days of the flu, it is a relief that I seem to be on the upswing. The fever and the medications I took kept me in bed much of the time. It was hard to focus on just about anything and never even turned on my computer for more than two days – a very rare event for me. I thank the Lord it seems to be getting better but still have a nasty sounding cough.
Jesus found a lot of sick people all over Israel when He was on earth. He had the power to heal anyone and He did heal countless numbers of the sick. Even death was no problem for Him. The Bible contains three times when He raised the dead.
Although God wanted to show His power that people in His day might see the love and goodness of God, there was an even greater sickness that He wanted to heal. You see, everyone has been stung by sin. It is not a minor problem as many suppose.
The Bible says that the “wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). It also says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). These two verses, and many others, reveal that our sins are sending us to Hell.
This sin nature that we all possess requires more than just asking for forgiveness for our sins. It also requires that we be willing to turn from doing our own will and be willing to start doing God’s will as revealed in the Bible and believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross to become the only Savior for all men.
Jesus came and died to free us from the soul-destroying plague of sin that eventually leads to Hell. As the only true spiritual Physician, Jesus Christ wants to become your Savior today so that He might heal your soul-sickness and give you everlasting life. No person is outside of His ability to heal and change their lives!
Do you recognize your soul’s sickness today? He is not looking for reform or religious duties first, He only wants you to humbly come to Him in prayer and ask Him to forgive and save you. He loves to save the lost and will help them serve Him with a new power. Will you let Him heal your soul-sickness today?
