Romans 11-13 “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”
The one thing that God hates – and the one thing He created Hell for – is sin. Sin is anything or any act that disobeys God and His Word.
The Christian has no business living contrary to the Word of God. Christ has saved us from our own sin and corruption and now gives us a choice to serve Him – or sin.
Paul admonishes believers to reckon (count, believe, understand) that you are dead to sin and free from it. Although we are not perfect yet, there ought to be a striving for it – to be like Christ – in His power and not our own. As we grow older in Christ, His power and victory should be more and more evident in our life.
A powerful key to getting victory is first reckoning yourself dead to sin – because Christ made it so when He saved you. Then, make yourself available (“yield yourselves unto God”) to God in whatever ways He desires.
If you are tired of defeat in your life – and sin – as a believer, why not follow the above two steps now and ask God to help you?
