I Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
God watches carefully over all His children. He knows at any moment what you are going through and how you feel.
The word “temptation” in the above verse can speak of an actual temptation or a trial. In either situation, this verse gives us a promise that God always knows how to deliver us.
As the verse says, every temptation you face is not unique to you. Others have had the same temptation at some time in their life – and they had the victory – so can you.
God does allow some of His children to go through fiery trials, and some experience great suffering. Whenever God permits it, thank Him and trust that He knows how to deliver. Sometimes His deliverance is grace to endure it, not necessarily deliverance from it.
If it is a trial, after praying – and not complaining (which will get you nowhere), trust Him by faith that He knows what He is doing. He will always give grace that is sufficient for the hour.
When God says that He will not allow you to be tempted above that you are able, it does not mean what most people think it means. God will sometimes allow it to become strong enough so that you learn to trust in His power and not your own. If it is always only up to what you can bear, you will never learn to draw on His power. Paul said: “when I am weak, then am I strong” (II Cor. 12:9) – because he learned to draw on God’s grace. Then, and only then, was His grace sufficient.
If you are facing a temptation to sin, ask Him for help. If you need to go somewhere else – do it. Ask God for strength to resist and surrender to God – the Devil will flee. Remember, though, it is God that Satan is afraid of – not you.
