The Need for Prayer Now

By | December 6, 2021

I Peter 4:7 “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.”

Much is often said about prayer – but so little time is given to it. I hope to exhort some people to seriously pray today.

Many believers have good intentions to pray, but things so often get in the way. Of course, it could be the work of the enemy to produce so many distractions, or it could be a lack of making prayer a priority – or both. Either way, it is all too often getting left out.

So much is happening in our world now and changes are occurring faster than ever. They are not changing for the good, either, as I’m sure you noticed.

In the above verse, believers are told to be “sober.” It means to think clearly and realistically. We are not to be dreamers, nor are we to ignore what is happening around us. We also need to be very aware that Christ is coming soon: “the end of all things is at hand.”

The nearness of His appearing means we should be busier than ever seeking the lost and working to keep them out of Hell. Our last opportunity to win them may be right around the corner – or even today!

It is time, my brothers and sisters in Christ, to be much in prayer now. The church of our Lord is hurting – and so is missions. Fervent prayer can make a difference – but only if we will do it.

May God help us to fervently pray today since so much depends on it – including His glory. Will you join me in praying for revival?
