Psalm 138:2 “I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.”
David was inspired to write the words: “for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” He loved the Word of God and meditated on it every day.
This statement about the Bible is profound. It reveals that the Bible is as important to God as the honor of His own Name – even more so.
It reveals the accuracy of the Word. Since His honor is wrapped up in the integrity of the Bible – it must be without error. It also means that He must protect and preserve it as He does His own honor.
All too often believers admit that they do not read their Bible every day. God thinks very highly of His Book – and so should we. It really is His love letter to us.
He provides so many promises in it that can help us be “partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (II Peter 1:4). We also have visions of the future in it that tell us of an unbelievably luxurious future Home He has built for us. The Word also teaches us how to have victory over the world, the flesh, and the devil.
Many things are in the Bible to give us peace and comfort – yet it remains ignored and Christians go without those things the world seeks for but can never find! His precious Book is the key to an abundant life down here. Yes, we have the Holy Spirit, but He works with and through God’s Word.
If you, Christian, want to know more about God and how your life can be blessed, you need to be in the Word every day. The more you read it, meditate on it, and obey it, the more your life will be blessed.
Why not ask God now to help you get in the Word every day and to do what He says? It will change your life.
