II Corinthians 12:9 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
This verse may be one of the most precious for believers. If it would only be remembered when needed, believers of all ages would be much happier. Thank God for such promises as this one.
Paul apparently felt that he could not put up with the infirmity that God had permitted him to have. So, he prayed about it – much like we would when we feel stressed about an infirmity or ongoing problem. In fact, he prayed about it three times.
The lesson that the Lord taught him was one we all need to learn. God is not weakened by our weakness, nor does our weakness in any way limit Him. In fact, it is when we are or feel most weak that He can demonstrate His strength in the best way.
Once Paul understood this, there was no more complaining about the matter. Paul changed his way of looking at the problem, and understood that the infirmity was only given to make him stronger. He even came to welcome the weakness, because it was then that he could say: “the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
Are there situations or problems that are getting the best of you – leading you to complain and murmur? God may be working to increase the power that He wants to demonstrate to and through you. Will you let Him have His way with you today? When you do, you will discover that His grace is always sufficient for the hour.
