John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
One doctrine that is attacked more than any other is the nature of Christ. Who is Jesus?
Liberals, cultists, and other religions will tell you many things, but rarely will they admit that He is God. A lesser god, maybe, but not the God. The above verse (and many others) plainly declares that Jesus is God.
It is one doctrine that is very difficult, if not impossible to understand, but the Bible plainly teaches it. Not only is Jesus Christ God, but He was always the Son of God. The only way you can have an eternal Father (Isaiah 9:6) is if you have an eternal Son!
Jesus is the Creator of all things, as stated in Colossians 1:16: “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:“ He is also the One that holds all things together now, according to the very next verse: “And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
Jesus had to be God if He was to become our Redeemer. Since all men are sinners (Romans 3:23), and all are condemned because of it (Romans 6:23), it would take someone who was sinless to pay our price for us. Jesus can still ask the question: “Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?” (John 8:46).
Jesus was born of a virgin because the sin nature is passed through the human father to the children. Therefore, He had to have been born without one – conceived by a Divine miracle.
Jesus left Heaven to become the “Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). He lived a sinless life, was crucified, died, was buried, and rose again to forever free sinners from the penalty of sin and its shackles, and to enable us to live with Him forever. Because of His sinlessness and Divine nature, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
Thank God that this is not the whole story. He is coming back – and soon – just like He said. And when He does, the whole world will be first cleansed of sin and unrepentant sinners, and a new and righteous world order established with Him in charge for His believers! Praise God!
