Malachi 3:6 “For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”
The above verse makes it clear that God is patient. He has never changed – even when people continue in their sin. Because of His patience: “therefore ye sons of Jacob” [or any other race] “are not consumed” – yet.
God would rather show love and kindness than judgment. He is merciful – thank God – but everyone needs to realize that God will not tolerate sin forever. The Bible reveals that this world is about to undergo a major change. One day, He will judge it perfectly. No loopholes will be found!
The reason He is patient is that He is a God of love. He showed us how much He loved us by sending His Son to be our Substitute – to pay the price we could not pay – eternity in Hell for our sins against Him. His love is infinite – and so is His holiness. His love for us led Him to send His Son in our place: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (Jn. 3:16).
Some people wonder why Christ has not returned yet. The Bible explains it like this in II Pe. 3:9: “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
One more thing about real love – it does not force. God will not force anyone to receive the gift of forgiveness and eternal life through Christ, but it must be remembered that no one else can offer salvation either: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Ac. 4:12).
Because no one knows exactly when Christ will return – now is the best time to be saved. In prayer, ask Him to forgive you of your sin and thank God for sending Jesus Christ to be your payment for sin, then, ask Him to come into your heart and save you and be your Boss from now on. He will save you today! “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (II Co. 6:2).
