Hebrews 4:15,16 “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Before Jesus ever entered the ministry, He lived on earth like any other human. He likely worked as a carpenter in His father’s workshop. The only difference was that He was perfect (because He was God) and that He enjoyed constant fellowship with the Father.
During that time and during His ministry, He experienced the same things we do. He knows what it is like to be tempted, and, thank God, He knows how to deliver from that temptation. Three of the temptations He faced were much greater than any you or I will ever face – and He successfully resisted.
After the Resurrection and Ascension, Jesus became our High Priest. He could faithfully fulfill this position because of His experiences on earth.
Dear brother or sister in Christ – He knows what you feel when you are tempted and He can help you get victory – just when you need it. He is not a God that cannot feel – He knows and He was prepared in advance to fulfill the position of High Priest for you and me.
Remember, too, that you can get strength for victory by being around other believers at church and during the week. You should also be reading God’s Word every day – which will strengthen your faith.
When you as a believer need help and are serving Him – He tells us to “come boldly unto the throne of grace.” He wants you to come – not proudly – but with the confidence that God is your Father and that He wants to give you good gifts! When you come to Him in prayer, He will show mercy and give grace when you need it. He promised!
