Matthew 11:28-30 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
The verses above are Christ’s invitation to those in need of soul rest. Many people in that day had grown very weary of trying to keep the law – only to find that it was impossible. It proved that they could never be good enough. It soon led to many people eventually giving up and possibly even losing all hope of going to Heaven – other than in their dreams – or falsely believing that they might “make it in.”
The Lord Jesus provided a simple solution for salvation to those who really wanted it. He promised, just go to Him and He will give it. It cannot be made any simpler than that. He will provide it for you. He did this when He went to the Cross and shed His blood for you and me. He paid the full price – which means that no more payment can be demanded of you once you accept His payment!
Jesus said that once you come to Him, that you will “find rest unto your souls.” This is because all work for salvation has been completed. Once you call on Him to be your Savior, you can rest in the fact that Heaven is your Home and nothing can change that.
After salvation, though, a Christian can become burdened about many things. The solution is the same as when you obtained salvation – come to Him and cast your burdens on Him. He will take care of you, and your soul and mind can be set free of needless anxiety.
Remember that He said “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” If you are burdened today – it is not a burden that Christ gave you or wants you to have. Why not cast it afresh on Him today and enjoy the peace He wants you to have?
