Psalm 116:17 “I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.”
Israel was commanded to offer sacrifices everyday to the Lord. There were several different kinds and they were for different purposes.
When they were offered with a right heart, God accepted the offerer. He even delighted in the sacrifice when it was offered correctly.
Genesis 8:20,21 says that Noah “offered burnt offerings on the altar. And the Lord smelled a sweet savor.” In chapter 9 verse 1, the very next verse, it says that “God blessed Noah and his sons…”
Our God enjoys hearing us give thanks to Him for His many blessings. He enjoys hearing honest praise and recognition for all He does for us – even though we can never understand all He does on our behalf.
Thanksgiving is a sacrifice, and so is praise to God. So often we forget to say “Thank you” to God, but we must remember that we are called to give Him thanks – and it will not go unnoticed or unrewarded.
Have you given Him thanks today and not already forgotten what yesterday was about? Black Friday deals should not take away our thanks to God for all He has given us at salvation and since then.
