II Corinthians 4:1“Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;”
Paul the apostle knew that he was given his ministry from God. He was faithful to his calling until the day he died. Although he experienced much hardship, trials, and persecutions, he never looked back or quit.
There was no doubt that he kept his eye on the prize. Probably there are not very many today that could be considered his equal in zeal or faithfulness – or in the results of ministry. He stuck it out no matter what came his way.
How did he do it? Through faith in a great God who was able to keep him every step of the way! Paul learned that God’s grace is sufficient in every situation. Thank God for it! He believed that since God gave him the work to do, that God would enable him to do it.
Now, you that have either already quit your ministry (whether you are a pastor, youth pastor, Sunday School teacher, bus worker, greeter, etc.) – or are thinking about it, why stop now? Is it not true that His reward is not far away? The finish line is almost in sight!
Sometimes our Lord may direct to different fields of service, but I have never heard of Him ever directing anyone to quit. You that have quit, why not ask Him for mercy and to help you find another place of service before you are no longer able?
There is yet much work that can be done in the way of ministry in this world. The world needs the Gospel – and your neighbors probably do, too! They also need to see that God’s grace is able to keep you all the way Home.
Remember that Paul said because “we have this ministry, we faint not.” There is no time for fainting (hesitating or quitting). It’s time to get busy – until he comes back! Wouldn’t you like Him to find you faithful when Be does? Don’t quit!
