Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”

The one thing that God hates – and the one thing He created Hell for – is sin. Sin is anything or any act that disobeys God and His Word.

The Christian has no business living contrary to the Word of God. Christ has saved us from our own sin and corruption and now gives us a choice to serve Him – or sin.

Paul admonishes believers to reckon (count, believe, understand) that you are dead to sin and free from it. Although we are not perfect yet, there ought to be a striving for it – to be like Christ – in His power and not our own. As we grow older in Christ, His power and victory should be more and more evident in our life.

A powerful key to getting victory is first reckoning yourself dead to sin – because Christ made it so when He saved you. Then, make yourself available (“yield yourselves unto God”) to God in whatever ways He desires.

If you are tired of defeat in your life – and sin – as a believer, why not follow the above two steps now and ask God to help you?

Whose Servant Are You? https://101info.org/whose-servant-are-you/ https://101info.org/whose-servant-are-you/#respond Sat, 06 Aug 2022 12:15:55 +0000 https://101info.org/?p=4258 Read More »]]> Romans 6:16-18 “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”

Before salvation, the Bible says that everyone is the servant of sin. There has been a yielding to sin, and a choice to serve it was made.

Because of the choice to serve sin – even once – it must be remembered that the “wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). People show what they are by whom they serve – “by their fruits ye shall know them” (Matthew 7:20).

Paul, speaking under the direction of the Holy Spirit, says that believers have a choice in who you will serve – Christ or the devil (synonymous with the flesh because if you are serving the flesh you are not serving God).

A believer – and anyone else – can only serve one master well. It is time for Christians who say that they have been washed from their sins to serve God with their whole heart.

Being half in the world and halfway serving Christ is not fooling anyone – but yourself. Paul spells it out very plainly: “to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey.”

Christian friend – let’s get real and live like we have been redeemed. Put away the sin and put on righteousness. Not only is God and the angels watching your life – but so are your family and neighbors. What do they see?

Are you showing them that it is worthwhile to serve a living Savior? Do you want your children to follow your example?
