Word – Bible Truth for Today https://101info.org Brother Mike Valles Fri, 31 Mar 2023 21:09:27 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.7.1 192660109 Staying Busy for the Father https://101info.org/staying-busy-for-the-father/ https://101info.org/staying-busy-for-the-father/#respond Fri, 31 Mar 2023 21:09:27 +0000 https://101info.org/?p=7376 Read More »]]> John 9:4 “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”
John 4:34 “Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.”

The above two verses demonstrate our Savior’s attitude toward accomplishing the will of God. They show that it is obvious that Jesus had no plans of His own. He only wanted to do what His Father wanted and He wanted to finish it.

From His busy life, we can see that the Son of God never wasted time. Though Jesus did take some breaks, it was because our bodies need them and He was showing us that some rest is needed to help prevent burnout.

Christians should always be willing to exert themselves to do our Father’s will. He is never pleased with half-heartedness or laziness. He wants His people to serve Him with hot hearts – not lukewarm or cold ones.

There are two thoughts in these verses. The first one is that Jesus knew when to work – in the day. It means we should not wait for a better day or time – but work for God today while we have the freedom and opportunity to do so. We have no idea what tomorrow may bring.

The second verse shows us that He was energized to do what His Father wanted. He could not be fully satisfied until it was finished. Also, it is evident that He considered doing His Father’s will to be more important than even eating.

Solomon told his son “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10). This is good advice for all of us, especially once you know what God wants you to do – as found in His Word. If you are faithful, He will provide the open doors.

Faith Is the Victory That Overcomes https://101info.org/faith-is-the-victory-that-overcomes/ https://101info.org/faith-is-the-victory-that-overcomes/#respond Thu, 23 Mar 2023 20:25:57 +0000 https://101info.org/?p=7301 Read More »]]> I John 5:4 “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

What a blessing it is to know that victory is possible. No, it is not talking about a once and for all time kind of victory. If God gave that to us, we would likely tend to drift quickly from Him and no longer seek fellowship with Him. Instead, we must remain close to Him and reliant on Him for victory.

Victory is possible from the moment the new child of God is born into the family of God. Learning how to use it and how to reclaim it when cast down must be learned. For this reason, fellowship with other believers that love God is very necessary.

Note that this verse says that our victory is through faith. It says faith can overcome the world and its lusts and temptations.

Faith is a fruit of the Spirit. We are told, though, that: “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). This verse declares that if you want more faith, then, you must get it not by praying for it, not by psyching yourself up, by from time spent in the Word of God.

As you spend time in the Bible, with the intent to do what it teaches, God will increase your faith. Faith is built on the promises, the teachings of the Word, and the character and nature of God.

As we move into the weekend, today may be a good time to spend more time in the Word. Your life will reflect the difference. Victory can be yours.

The Need for Daily Bible Reading https://101info.org/the-need-for-daily-bible-reading/ https://101info.org/the-need-for-daily-bible-reading/#respond Mon, 29 Aug 2022 12:15:58 +0000 https://101info.org/?p=4455 Read More »]]> Proverbs 8:34 “Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.”

Believers that would be wise in God’s wisdom need to be around the source of wisdom. The only source that we have is the Word of God – the Bible.

The Bible presents wisdom in different ways. There are positive things – things that we should do; and there are negative things that we must not do.

There are also things that we need to be. Christians need to be loving, be filled with the Spirit, be gracious, be forgiving, be praying always, etc.

Thankfully, the Bible not only shows us these things, but it also gives us the desire to do them. It does this for the heart that is in tune with God – the Word gives faith, too.

Finally, the Bible also presents us with a key to learn God’s wisdom. It is necessary to be “watching daily at my gates,” He says. This means to be in His Word daily.

For those that do get into the Word daily and apply it to their life – they are promised to be “blessed.”

God Is Unchanging in His Ability to Keep His Promises https://101info.org/god-is-unchanging-in-his-ability-to-keep-his-promises/ https://101info.org/god-is-unchanging-in-his-ability-to-keep-his-promises/#respond Mon, 19 Jul 2021 19:04:52 +0000 https://101info.org/?p=94 Read More »]]> Malachi 3:6 “For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”

Because God is love and wants people to trust Him, He has provided thousands of promises in the Bible. Of course, the promises are for His children – those who are born again by faith in Jesus Christ and what He did on the Cross for sinners.

In order to believe that someone is faithful to their Word, there usually needs to be a track record of faithfulness to what they say. God declares that people can determine His faithfulness by considering how faithful He made the heavens: “For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens” (Ps. 89:2).

Every day, you can expect the sun to rise and set (unless you live near the poles). The moon will do the same. When the skies are clear at night, you can expect the stars will still be there – and in the same patterns as they were the day before. God has created a faithful and predictable universe. The heavens do not change. You can also expect four seasons each year – with some variation.

When considering the creation and the heavens, the writer of this chapter in Psalms asks: “O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?” (Ps. 89:8). Of course, the answer is that there is none as faithful as He is – all the time! David also testified of His faithfulness when he said, in Ps. 37:25: “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”

Whether you need to trust Him for salvation, for deliverance from sin, forgiveness of sin (I John 1:9), or answers to prayer – He can be trusted. Sometimes, however, there are conditions. One of them is that you need to be His child and another is that you need to be obedient. Remember, too, that you need to give God the glory when He does answer, and that sometimes He may override your request – give Him praise anyway since He always knows what is best – He is faithful!
