Various Christian groups and denominations argue about the doctrine that teaches “once saved always saved.” Despite their arguments, it is what the Bible teaches. This verse proves it – and so do many others.

While the matter of “predestination” will not be discussed at this time, the rest of the verse says what is needed to be seen. First, justification means that God has forgiven the sinner by faith on the basis of what Christ did for us – His crucifixion and resurrection.

It is God declaring the new believer to be righteous in His eyes – a legal transaction. All sins are wiped away.

Before they are justified, God called them by His Holy Spirit. No one can believe on Christ except the Holy Spirit draw them. He does this when they hear the Gospel, but they have the power to refuse God’s salvation if they do not want it.

Now, focus on the last phrase of the text verse: “whom he justified, them he also glorified.” Note that there are no exceptions. The ones that have been justified will be glorified. It does not say that some of them that have been justified will be glorified. It makes a simple statement: all who have been justified will be glorified.

Just before Jesus died on the Cross, He uttered three simple words: “It is finished.” He was referring to the reason He came – to obtain salvation for all. No one died on the Cross with HimHe alone died for the sins of others. John the Baptist said of Him: “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (Jn. 1:29).

By Himself He purchased our salvation, we had no part in it except to receive what He offered. What did He offer? Eternal life. John the Apostle tells us: “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

Have you been justified? Then you can be sure that the rest will also happen. Make sure that your salvation is real – there is no opportunity for a second go-around.
