And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”

Thousands of years ago, God promised to destroy the present world and bring in a new one. Thank God that the curse will be removed, and everything will be made perfect once again.

It is quite probable that it will be very different than it is today. Some theologians think that it may be a crystalline world, rather than a biological one. I do not know.

It is clear that the things of this earth will be forgotten, according to Isaiah 65:17: “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.” Many people here say that when they get to Heaven they want to ask God about such and such. Personally, I think they will be so impressed with the glory of Christ and Heaven that they will not care for an answer. It will no longer matter. We will know that God always does what is right and perfect – whether we understand it or not.

Some of the things that can be known about the new world include:

  • Perfect people – all glorified

  • No wicked or unsaved people in the new world (Rev. 21:8, 27)

  • A perfect world – no storms, floods, cold weather, etc.

  • No sickness, pain, tears, or death (Rev. 21:4)

  • No need for preachers or doctors

  • No “animals” – except for spirit beings (horses, etc.)

  • The Tree of Life is there (Rev. 22:2)

  • God will be the center of everything

  • God will be praised continually

  • No more temple (Rev. 21:22)

  • The saved will see God and live with Him

  • A city from Heaven of incredible beauty and worth

  • The New Jerusalem is about 1,500 miles square

  • There are nations and kings (Rev. 21:24).

Taking time to think about the world to come is worthwhile and helps us live for God the way He desires. It will also motivate you to serve Him better and more faithfully. Paul tells us, in Colossians 3:2-4: Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”
