As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire.”

While using parables (stories to illustrate spiritual truth) to teach His audience, the Lord Jesus gave the above parable of the wheat (the saved) and the tares (the unsaved). Instead of separating them beforehand, Jesus said that there would be a day (“the harvest”) coming when the angels would gather the wicked together.

In this parable, the wicked (unsaved) have several descriptions:

  1. “children of the wicked one”
  2. “all things that offend”
  3. “them which do iniquity.”

In contrast, there are the “the children of the kingdom.” These are those that have sought forgiveness for their sin and trusted in Christ and His free gift of salvation. The “kingdom” is for them alone and they will live with Christ forever in a world untainted by sin and sinners.

Everyone has opportunity to be forgiven of sins, which are disobedience to God’s laws, and be saved. Those who refuse to yield to His rightful Lordship, or who simply delay in making that choice until it is too late, “shall cast them into a furnace of fire” (Hell). It is also said that they will be “gathered and burned in the fire.”

Anyone reading this can be saved. Simply ask Him to forgive and save you from your sin and from Hell. He is more than willing: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).
