What a blessing it is to know that victory is possible. No, it is not talking about a once and for all time kind of victory. If God gave that to us, we would likely tend to drift quickly from Him and no longer seek fellowship with Him. Instead, we must remain close to Him and reliant on Him for victory.

Victory is possible from the moment the new child of God is born into the family of God. Learning how to use it and how to reclaim it when cast down must be learned. For this reason, fellowship with other believers that love God is very necessary.

Note that this verse says that our victory is through faith. It says faith can overcome the world and its lusts and temptations.

Faith is a fruit of the Spirit. We are told, though, that: “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). This verse declares that if you want more faith, then, you must get it not by praying for it, not by psyching yourself up, by from time spent in the Word of God.

As you spend time in the Bible, with the intent to do what it teaches, God will increase your faith. Faith is built on the promises, the teachings of the Word, and the character and nature of God.

As we move into the weekend, today may be a good time to spend more time in the Word. Your life will reflect the difference. Victory can be yours.

Standing Fast Through Faith in the Promises https://101info.org/standing-fast-through-faith-in-the-promises/ https://101info.org/standing-fast-through-faith-in-the-promises/#respond Tue, 21 Jun 2022 12:15:12 +0000 https://101info.org/?p=3083 Read More »]]> I John 5:4 “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

True salvation comes only through faith (Ephesians 2:8,9). It is the door to salvation because it trusts in what God has revealed to us about salvation in the Bible. Christ died for us and we need nothing else but to believe that He is all we need to be saved.

Salvation, however, is only the beginning of the many things that God wants every believer to have and accomplish in this life. You may remember that Canaan in the Bible is not a picture of Heaven.

Instead, it is a place that God gives a believer who is willing to move forward and grow in grace. It is where the milk and honey of the Christian life are found. There are, however, enemies in it that must be conquered. One of those enemies is “the world.”

The “world” refers to those temptations that are contrary to accomplishing the full will of God. They are all around us, and sometimes they are in our homes. We face them daily – and sometimes hourly. Our flesh is naturally drawn to them, but when we walk in the Spirit, there is victory over them.

To help us have victory, God has given us many promises of victory. They are as a “shield” that is indestructible and can defeat any enemy: “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked” (Ephesians 6:16). The key to that kind of victory is faith that God will keep us – as long as we are following Him.

You may have heard the saying that reveals that the Christian that is doing God’s will is invincible – until God is finished with him or her. It’s true. It’s time we believe it and forsake that which slows us down in service for Him.

That kind of service requires “crucifixion” to self and to the world. There can be no lasting victory without crucifixion to worldly desires. Only God can do it in us: “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world” (Galatians 6:14).

Who are you going to serve, Christian – Christ or the world? Are you really serving Him in the way He desires? There can be no victory without battle.

Today Is a Great Day for Victory https://101info.org/today-is-a-great-day-for-victory/ https://101info.org/today-is-a-great-day-for-victory/#respond Mon, 14 Mar 2022 12:15:42 +0000 https://101info.org/?p=2549 Read More »]]> I John 5:4 “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

When the Lord Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, it was because He had met and defeated the enemy. The enemy of all people was sin and death – and Hell awaited everyone because all had sinned (Romans 6:23).

Everyone born into this world after the Fall – except Jesus Christ – is born under the curse. But Jesus got the victory through a sinless life, and then, as the perfect Lamb of God, He was slain for our sin. He rose again – and His resurrection is a symbol of the believer’s new birth and a new enablement that He gives at the moment of salvation. We become “born of God.” It is not by our works, but by the “by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” (Titus 3:5). His resurrection is also proof that we also will one day be given a new body and taken to glory.

In the meantime, the same One that empowered the Lord Jesus while He was on earth – the Holy Spirit – now empowers each believer. Every believer, however, must choose to walk in His power (Ephesians 5:18). It will not happen automatically. Jesus lived on earth the same way the believer does today – through faith in God and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our Bible verse for today says that anyone that is born of God “overcometh the world.” Since you have been saved, can you honestly say that your life since salvation is largely characterized by victory? or is it one of defeat?

My Christian friend, if Christ promised victory then you can be sure that He intends to give it. There are some conditions, though, and these need to be met first. There are three conditions:

  1. Confess and forsake known sin. Stop playing with it! (I John 1:9)
  2. Surrender to His will as found in the Bible: Read your Bible daily, go to church faithfully, put away sin, tithe, and witness – for starters.
  3. Believe His promises and use them – in faith. Expect real victory!

Why not make today the first of many days of victory through Christ? Seek His help in prayer – He is more than willing to give grace and glory!

If this blog post has been a blessing and challenge to you, please leave a positive comment. I’d like to hear from you.
