Selah.”

Personally, over the many years that I have been a Christian (I was saved at the age of 6), I have found that there is no substitute for going to church. Of course, not just any church – but one that teaches the Bible accurately and plainly and where they seek to live what they preach.

Since I have had the privilege of having been in hundreds of churches, I have found that there certainly is a difference between them. Some have been a blessing to me and my family and others were not.

One of the greatest blessings is to be able to meet with other believers that are like-minded. If the people love the Lord, they will also be friendly. This creates an instant fellowship with other believers in the church. It does not take long to learn whether or not the Lord is there and will bless the services. .

If things have not been going well, and I am feeling a little under the weather – or discouraged (yes, preachers can feel that way sometimes, too) – the singing to the Lord and the teaching and preaching are often refreshing. Of course, I am also aware that when I am preaching that others need something in the message that will be an encouragement and blessing to them to keep on serving the Lord.

Christians that attend church and meet with other believers can also find friends that will help and encourage them. It will also help you understand the Bible better. They can also pray with you and help you to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.

Notice that the text verse above says that those that “dwell in thy house” will be those that keep on praising God. I have noticed a long time ago that the happiest Christians are those that regularly (“dwell”) go to church – three times a week. These believers, the text verse declares, are the “blessed” ones – which means the happy ones. Not many believers out of church are happy and living a victorious life.

David said, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD” (Ps. 122:1). Have you discovered these benefits while attending the church’s worship services? If not, why not try a Baptist church – one that preaches the Bible plainly?
