divine nature – Bible Truth for Today https://101info.org Brother Mike Valles Tue, 20 Aug 2024 20:31:38 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.6.2 192660109 The Promises That Make Overcomers https://101info.org/the-promises-that-make-overcomers/ https://101info.org/the-promises-that-make-overcomers/#respond Tue, 20 Aug 2024 20:31:38 +0000 https://101info.org/?p=17508 Read More »]]> II Pe. 1:3,4 “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

No Christian could ever be an overcomer without God helping him or her. Since we still have the old nature, it would be much more difficult apart from the Holy Spirit living within our hearts.

The power to overcome is the new nature that God gives us at the new birth – which is the Holy Spirit – Who gives the victory. By being dependent on Him for the victory, God alone gets the glory.

God has given us hundreds, even thousands of promises, in the Bible. Because they can enable us to walk with a “divine nature,” we have no excuse for walking in sin. The only excuse we have is that we did not take advantage of His promises when we could have – which is also sin.

All the promises given to believers have been given so that we may escape “the corruption that is in the world through lust.” That means victory. There is no situation we will ever encounter where the promises will not work – except when we have unconfessed sin and are not walking close to God.

Every true child of God can be an overcomer, but there must be a strong desire to please God before it will happen. Remember that there is no victory where there is no battle.

The world, the flesh, and the Devil are no match for the power God puts behind His promises. These promises are not a magic formula, rather they can be claimed when you are in a right fellowship with God. Remember the simple promise in Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Is there a Biblical promise that you can claim today to give you victory and be an overcomer? What not memorize it so that you can use it more than once?

The Will of God and Deliverance (Pt. III) https://101info.org/the-will-of-god-and-deliverance-pt-iii/ https://101info.org/the-will-of-god-and-deliverance-pt-iii/#respond Mon, 11 Apr 2022 12:15:57 +0000 https://101info.org/?p=2665 Read More »]]> Galatians 1:4 “Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:”

The Lord Jesus Christ paid a horrible price to redeem us from our sin and its penalty. Yes, God loves you and me, but the Cross reveals just how much He hates sin – no matter where it is found.

Because of God’s hatred of sin, it amazes me how some professing believers say that they can live how they want. No, the liberty that Christ purchased for us is for the purpose of delivering “us from this present evil world” – and its ways.

What is it about the “present evil world” that God hates? It is simply rebellion against His known will. For starters, His will is revealed in the Ten Commandments and in the Bible.

To enable His twice-born children to escape this “evil world” and its ways, God did four things:

  1. He made us new creatures (II Cor. 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”)
  2. He put His Holy Spirit within our hearts (Eph. 1:13 “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,”)
  3. He gave us His Word (Ps. 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”)
  4. He gave us great promises in His Word (Ii. Pe. 1:4 “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.)

These four things (and more) enable God’s children to live unto God and no longer for ourselves. His power is real to deliver from any sin – but you must want to live for Him. You can be sure that He wants to deliver you from sin much more than you could ever want it!

Have you sincerely asked Him for the deliverance you need? How are you doing so far in getting victory?
