All of you have heard about the Egyptian and Mayan calender predictions of something cataclysmic happening sometime in the year 2012. According to archaeologists, each of these ancient peoples had a time line calender and each of them ended abruptly in the year 2012.

With the Mayans it was an actual calender based on the sun, moon and the constellations. With the ancient Egyptians it was the architecture levels of the great pyramid at Giza and how they lined up with the constellations. The bottom level of the pyramid supposedly represents the year 2012.

Even Nostradamus predicted a great cataclysm is supposedly going to happen some time around the year 2012. To be honest with you, I wouldn't put much stake in this either. It's my belief that John the Revelator was the last prophet and we have all we need in the Scriptures which is the "that which is perfect" in 1 Corinthians 13:10.

As Christians, we are also looking for the end times or more distinctly, the End Of Time. But also as Christians we shouldn't be looking to the heathen for our beliefs. The Lord said in the Bible: Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Could it be in 2012? Yes, just the same as it could be today or 3012. The facts are no man knows. Only the Father.

My first case in point is that most all of the prophecies made by Nostradamus that people are relating to December 21, 2012 actually reflect the prophecy of the scriptures. For instance, all the terrible things he said about the global problems we are starting to see today are in the following passages:

Matthew 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows................

Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

1 Thessalonians 5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

And these are but a few.

I don't believe in the timing that they talked about or some of their methods for arriving there, but the end result matches up with biblical prophecy. I'm more inclined to say that the scientists might have a case with their torsion energy theory, or a huge meteor striking the earth breaking the magnetic field causing it to turn backwards, or gravity pushing down on the earth shifting its axis (wobble theory) etc. only because they have no personal religious bias and they're tested scientifically. But I don't put the scientific community's findings and theories above the Word of God. Like I said, the only thing that they said which actually harmonizes with the bible are the results of these things; the natural disasters.

They fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be fed away captive into all nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. 25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring: 26men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. (Luke 21:24-28)

Besides, if these things do happen in 2012, then where does that leave time for the Tribulation? (7 yrs or 3 1/2 yrs depending on what you believe) Either way, Dec 21, 2012 doesn't seem to allow for this time period because now we have less than 7 yrs or 3 1/2 left. (unless we are wrong in that interpretation - there's always a chance)

Tribulation is when tribulation is. Not trying to sound cryptic but with as many theories on the order of events to be frankly, we don't know exactly when this is going to begin. It's all God's timetable, not ours. For all we know this event may be the one thing that gives opportunities for Anti-Christ.
