Bible Promise for the Day – The Way to Truly Make America Great Again

God's Promises Are Ever Faithful

Joshua 26:3-9 “If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely. And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land. And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.”

There has been a lot of talk lately about making America great again. Yes, our country has certainly seen some slippage lately, but not necessarily due to the reasons that some would think.

The primary reason is because America has forgotten the One Who made it great in the first place. God has power to raise up a nation, to bring it down, or to let it bring itself down due to forgetting Him and moral decadence.

In the above verses, God promises to bring about many great blessings to the people who serve Him. It is not science or technology that brings the blessings, although those things are certainly helpful.

There are several blessings that God directly promises in these verses:

  1. Rain for the crops
  2. Bumper crops
  3. Food in abundance
  4. Safety and peace in the land
  5. Few wild animals – think packs of wild dogs!
  6. No enemies destroying in the land
  7. Military superiority

As I look over this list, I find that America had all these things at one time. There certainly was a direct correlation between church-going and blessings. Of course, the greatest blessing is salvation through Christ – knowing about it and being transformed by it.

What are the conditions of making America great again, according to these verses?

  1. Become one of God’s children (salvation)
  2. Choose to obey God daily (a choice must be made)
  3. Keep His Biblical principles (don’t just talk about them)

Any politician that wants to see America become what it could be must not only decide to follow these principles, but they must also choose to lead America toward that goal! Then and only then, will America begin to be in the place where God wants to bless it again. Until then, as our verse reveals – He does not “respect” a people who will not love and serve Him.

Will you be one who will follow God’s principles for personal faithfulness to Him? Are you saved? Revival, or a return to God that He may bless, begins with you today.

Bible Promise for the Day – Receiving a Full Reward

Hebrews 10:35,36 “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”

In this verse, the Apostle Paul talks about the possibility of losing rewards. In the Bible, salvation is never considered a reward for believers – that comes by faith in Christ.

Rewards are given for faithful service and there are several of them. They include crowns and positions of authority. While many people are focused on being able to go to Heaven because of Christ, many do not realize that there are rewards that can be obtained, too. Because many are not working for them, they are apt to lose out.

Paul indicates that a believer needs to be careful to maintain faith, and continue living for God with their whole life. He tells the believer to be patient. Things may not always be grand and wonderful, some hardships will come. But, don’t turn back or turn aside, and you can receive a full reward. When you do, you will instantly discover that it was worth it.

You will also discover that God will help you every step of the way. It will be a challenge, but you can earn a full reward. You will need to start that journey toward a full reward by making a commitment to serve Christ from now on, and start immediately following the Word of God.

Bible Promise for the Day – The Power of Grace Limits Sin

Romans 6:14 “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.”

It was mentioned in yesterday’s daily devotional that grace is God providing an enabling to His people. This enablement gives believers the power to do all that God desires us to do, as well as to be what He wants us to be.

Grace enables the believer because it is literally God moving within and providing the necessary power. His grace must be obtained hourly, and even minute by minute. We are not ever independent of it, and when we try or forget this principle, we only fall flat on our face.

When we are submitted to Him, just as the verse promises, sin will not have power over you. While this verse refers to salvation, it is not only talking about salvation when it mentions the Law. It means sin cannot bring the believer back into a position of condemnation – even if you do sin again; and it also means that when Christ rules the heart, and the Spirit fills you, that sin will not have the victory.

Christ’s power truly cancels the power of sin. It frees the believer from its power, and believers need to recognize His power over it, and then act on it. Paul says in the verses following this one that grace enables us to serve God as we ought because we have been loosed from sin’s power.

The choice of who or what we serve after salvation is up to the believer. Although the power for victory over sin is available, the believer does have a choice. You can choose to serve Christ and walk in His power, or, ignore it and walk in the flesh (sin).

In the previous verse, Paul exhorts the believer to: “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”  Let’s go on and walk in His grace and power for His glory, that others may see what we have is real!
