I John 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
All of us know what temptation is. It comes in different forms to different people, but it works the same way. It pulls on our flesh.
Satan is the source of temptation and he works to try and get the believer’s mind off of God and His will for us. He is the God wannabe – but he is no match for the Almighty and God will not vacate His glorious position.
When Christ was at His weakest (in the eyes of Satan and man), it was then that He also became the strongest. At that moment of time on the Cross, He successfully paid for the sins of all people and He became the Redeemer of the whole human race. He then rose with power to sit on the right hand of the Father and will never be defeated.
This Mighty One lives in the heart of every believer. He is there to strengthen and comfort you. He wants to give you power over every temptation, and He can. As believers, we need to first remember that He is there, and secondly, that He is much greater than the enemy.
When faced with temptation, we merely need to ask Christ for the power He wants His children to have. Tell God that you want to serve Him and you will find the strength you need.
Don’t try to resist Satan in your own power. You are not strong enough or able to do it. Christ’s power is more than sufficient, and you will be able to give Christ glory for His help afterwards.
John the Apostle credits these disciples as having already become aware of and using God’s power when he says: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them.” They had already found that God’s power could make them “overcomers.”
