Making Sure of the Right Path to Heaven

God's Promises Are Ever Faithful
God’s Promises Are Ever Faithful

Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

The Word of God tells us that it is possible to be living in such a way that may seem right to that individual, but it will not get them to the right desired eternal destination. This is what happens when someone uses their own intellect to guide them, and not God’s Word – which He gave us for that purpose.

For other people who may not think that making a decision about Christ and salvation needs to be made right away, it only needs to be said that you cannot live your life going the wrong way and expect to end up at the right destination. It will not work, and none of us knows when we will enter eternity.

The Bible makes the way of eternal life very clear to those who will carefully read it and desire to know its truth. It also answers most questions about life and eternity. I also make it very plain on this website.

As far as going to Heaven is concerned, the Bible tells us that: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). The good thing is that this beloved verse is not difficult to understand. It means what it says: God loved the human race; He saw our dilemma because of our sin; He sent His Son to die for us and pay our sin-debt; and now if you believe on Christ for your salvation – He will give you eternal life.

The Bible verse for today tells us that in spite of its easy message, it is still easy to be deceived. Deceit is one of Satan’s favorite tools. This is extremely dangerous when it comes to Heaven or Hell. You need to make sure. Leave the guessing games to the gamblers, but don’t gamble with your soul. There is no second chance. No replay on life.

How can you be saved and know for sure? You must know what the Bible says. As I explain the Scriptures to you, you can read for yourself that I am not twisting them, but am telling you the way it is.

I want to offer you an eBook for free that I think will be helpful. In it, I talk about a group of religious leaders in Jesus’ day who were deceived. They thought they had the truth, but Christ showed them differently.

The eBook is entitled: “The Dangers of Bible Ignorance.” Read it with an open mind. Remember that Christ said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). By this, He meant that the truth of salvation will set you free from the guilt of sin, from the penalty of sin, and from the doubt of your eternal destination.

In the world of religion, some religious leaders claim that there are many different ways to get to Heaven. This is certainly apt to leave many people confused – and it will certainly lead many of them astray.

Although there are older religious books, the Bible alone offers not only a reasonable explanation for our existence, but it also provides a clear and sure way to get to Heaven. That way is also unique, and it stands in clear contrast to what the majority of the other religions teach.

My new eBook, The Dangers of Bible Ignorance, does not present a new message, but seeks to make very plain what the Bible reveals from cover to cover about going to Heaven. Most people do not understand it, including many church-goers.

Three of the chapters in this eBook are:

  • Are Religious Leaders Always Right?
  • Close to the Truth – But Still Lost!
  • Knowing Bible Truth – But Not Changed By It

Those who do understand the message of the Bible know where they are going – and that knowledge is not based on their works, good deeds, or even church membership. Yes, they have assurance of salvation, and it is what God wants you to have, too.

Even in America today, where many people claim to be religious, including many Christians, the message that has been preached for 2,000 years is still understood only by a minority. The greatest danger in not knowing the Bible’s message is that it has eternal consequences.

This eBook makes that message easy to understand and reveals what you must do about it. You must understand why it was necessary for Christ to die and know what you must do about it. Certainly the time to act on that message is now. You can learn now the truth that will set you free from doubt and destruction.

The message is for people everywhere. Jesus died for all people. Find out why it is important that people in America, China, Mexico, the Middle East, Russia, etc., need to know about Christ.

Bible Promise for the Day – The Retirement Plan That Cannot Fail

God's Promises Are Ever Faithful
God’s Promises Are Ever Faithful

Matthew 6:20,21 “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

There is no doubt that the economy is currently unpredictable and unstable right now. Gas prices are changing, large companies are shutting down stores or declaring bankruptcy (Hanjin and SunEdison), politics continues to show little promise of a better tomorrow. Social security is running out and stocks and bonds just aren’t that reliable anymore. Health problems, often unpredictable, can also eat away at life savings.

The believer, however, has a very sure future. It is based on the faithfulness of God Himself. While earthly banks can break and investments can fail, even in gold, but investing in God’s work and serving Him will produce a guaranteed manifold return in the future.

God wants each believer to bank on Him. He cannot fail, or be overthrown. What He promises He will deliver – it’s just a matter of time. Everything around you that you see will be gone one day. Even today, possessions and riches can quickly be lost due to crime, inflation, cyber crime, and more.

It’s time to take stock, Christian, in the things that really matter. You cannot take anything from here with you, in the way of riches or rewards. Even if you could – it would not be worth anything up there.

Jesus once told a parable of a rich fool (Luke 12:16-21). The man said he would build bigger barns to keep his bumper crops in, and that he would eat, drink, and be merry from then on. That is exactly what many people want today. They want to retire early and take it easy. The problem with this, Jesus said, was that the man did not take eternity into account. He had absolutely nothing laid up in Heaven waiting for him – and he lost his own soul, too! He lived as though this world was all that there is – how wrong he was!

How true it is that where our treasure is, there will our hearts be also. If your heart is inclined to seek for riches which cannot last, then you will have no time to build up riches in glory, either. It is one or the other.

A missionary of the past, Jim Elliot, said: “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” Will your retirement plan extend beyond this life?

Bible Promise for the Day – Faith Is the Key to Salvation

God's Promises Are Ever Faithful
God’s Promises Are Ever Faithful

John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

This verse makes it plain that whether or not an individual is condemned to Hell depends on belief, or faith. Let me point out now that the word “faith” in this verse does not refer to the doctrinal points of what you hold to, as in a creed.

Many people today have this kind of “faith,” but it is not the kind of faith that saves from Hell. In fact, the Bible tells us that the devils believe, too, but you can be sure that they will not escape the wrath of God in Hell! The devils believe because they were at one time in Heaven. They knew God and dwelt with Him. They have no doubt about His existence or power. Yes, you can be sure that they have those facts straight, and they even tremble over that knowledge: “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble” (James 2:19).

God is much more interested in what you do about those facts about Him and about His Son, Jesus Christ. If your “knowledge” does not cause you to change your ways, then what you call “faith” won’t do you any more good than what the devils know about God.

When Christ first started preaching, His message was to declare: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15). This word “repent” means to change your mind about sin. Whereas you loved it before, hate it now, because it is sending you to Hell. Turn from it and tell God you are sorry for it.

After a child learns what “hot” means, they understand that they should not touch a “hot” stove. They believed it, and it altered their actions. This is the way saving faith works. Once you understand sin is sending you to Hell, it is time to not touch it anymore.

Christ needs to be the object of your faith, and not your works, or what you can do to save yourself. He died for your sins and now wants you to trust (believe) in Him alone for salvation. There is no other way to Heaven. Call on Him in prayer for forgiveness and salvation. Do it today. Make sure you have genuine faith in Christ, and are not merely trusting in a set of facts about Christ.

Notice again what the verse for today declares: “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” Hell is the price for a wrong kind of faith, but faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to save you leads to a real and eternal salvation.

Bible Promise for the Day – Getting Close to God

God's Promises Are Ever Faithful
God’s Promises Are Ever Faithful

James 4:8 “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”

The desire of God, ever since creation, has been to walk with and fellowship with humans. This overall purpose of God has never changed.

This is why He created Heaven. For those who will enjoy Him, He has reserved many special future blessings. Those who choose to walk with Him on earth already know and experience many of those blessings.

God, however, is very different from humans. In the beginning, man was created perfect and was able to walk with God. Sin entered, and so did separation from God, Who is infinitely holy.

Because of His love for us, God did not let this disruption in our relationship with Him remain constant. He took the first step to heal that broken fellowship by sending His own Son, Jesus, to die for us. That was the ultimate Sacrifice, as well as the necessary payment for the penalty of our sin.

The above Bible verse summarizes His promise to us. There is no need to continue to wonder “Is God real?” If we seek to find Him and desire to know Him, He will reciprocate. Remember, He wants you to know Him. He has promised: “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”

The issue of sin, though, is a serious one. He cannot let it go or overlook it. So, God tells the individual seeking Him: “Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” In plain English, this means stop sinning (repent). In prayer to God, admit you were wrong by breaking His commandments. Ask Him to forgive and to save you because of what Christ did on the Cross, and to help you serve Him the way He wants you to – according to the Bible.

This is certainly the greatest invitation ever given at any time, from the Creator of all, to you and me. He invites you to know and fellowship with Him. How will you respond today?

Bible Promise for the Day

God's Promises Are Ever Faithful
God’s Promises Are Ever Faithful

Dwelling in God’s House Forever!

Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”

David’s conclusion to this beautiful chapter is most excellent. It really would be hard to find a way to ask for more. It is also important to remember that this verse, along with the rest of the Bible, was inspired by God.

As we consider who is saying this, we realize that it was David – who suffered many things during his life that most people would consider evil. In spite of that, David chalked it up as “goodness and mercy” – when he was confident that God was his Shepherd. Although much of what he went through was certainly painful, he understood that God would never allow anything to happen to him that God did not permit. Yes, David even experienced some chastening, but he confessed it made him a better servant of God.

As a believer learns to stay in the Word of God, he or she learns that God gives faith through it. The Word can enable us to see more of what God is doing than those who don’t spend much time in it. This gives us confidence in His love, even when we can’t see His work on our behalf. As we read, we find verses such as Romans 8:32, which tells us: “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” When He is the Shepherd, and we are closely following Him, He does indeed provide all we need, and He is eternally good.

Perhaps the best part of David’s conclusion is in the last part of the verse: “and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” Yes, David knew where he was going. There was no doubt in his mind. He had eternal life and he knew it. It was a great source of comfort to him, just as it can be to you, too. I hope and pray that you know that you have eternal life in Christ.

If you are not certain that if you met God today, that you would be in Heaven for sure, I invite you to download my eBook for free: it’s entitled How to Be Saved and Know It (no log-in required). It explains Bible salvation in clear detail.

God’s Key to Salvation in One Verse

The Cross Is Absolutely Essential to Our Salvation
The Cross Is Absolutely Essential to Our Salvation

Many people reading this post will know what Bible verse of salvation the title refers to, before I present it. That is because it also is one of the most well-known verses, and I am glad for the opportunity to talk about it today.

God never intended Bible salvation to be difficult to understand. The truth is clearly in the opposite direction. It is quite simple. In fact, so simple, that multitudes of people reject it because it sounds so simple that even a child can understand it. After all, didn’t Jesus say that children should be permitted “to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven” (Mt. 19:14)? This verse means that many children get this truth and will be saved, and many adults will not be saved – simply because they just won’t receive salvation the way God offers it. God makes it easy to understand because e wants all to have it.

The Key Verse of Salvation

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Christ spoke these precious words in a discussion with Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews. Jesus referred to Himself as the One God gave to everyone on earth for their salvation. John the Baptist referred to Christ as “the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).  Although God was desirous to send the promised Redeemer to Israel, God loved the whole world, and wanted to save all.

The reason Christ could save all people from their sin is because of Who He is – the “only begotten Son” of God. Now, it only makes sense that if all need to be saved, then everyone is already condemned! Because the Bible tells us: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Ro. 3:23), it is imperative that people everywhere understand that we are not good in God’s sight.

If we really were not so bad as to deserve Hell, then there was no need for Christ to die for us. But God sent Him to die, because God wanted to give us an opportunity to be saved.

One of the most important parts of this verse is the requirements it gives for salvation. Let me encourage you to reread the verse. It says that “whosoever believeth in him” will not perish. Simply believing on Christ is all that is needed to receive eternal life.

Believing Is More Than a Set of Facts

Now, please understand that when the Bible talks about the belief or faith that can save the soul, it is not talking about a mere intellectual understanding of a set of facts, although the facts cannot be neglected. Instead, it refers to an actual trust in Christ, letting Him do all the saving for you.

It is first an understanding that you are a sinner on your way to Hell. You have willfully sinned, and God must punish sin, all sin, in Hell. Then, you need to understand and believe that God in mercy sent Christ to pay the price your sin deserves, and He died for it. Christ was raised from the dead to reveal that all sins have been successfully paid for – including yours and mine.

As a result of understanding and believing these truths about Christ, you are sorry for your sin (rebellion against God and His commandments). You also know that God said that if anyone (“whosover”) comes to Him in prayer and sincerity, and desires to turn their life around and live for God, they can be saved.

Faith Also Means Receiving

How? Simply by asking God to forgive you because of the fact that Christ already paid it all for you. You, in faith, ask Christ to save and forgive you at the very moment you pray – and He will. Thank Him for it, and then begin to follow God and His Scriptures – the Bible.

If you have never asked Christ to save you, and you recognize your need for it, why not bow your head right now and ask Him to save you now? God loves you and He is ready to hear your prayer.

If you do ask Him to save you, I would like to hear about it.
