Bible Promise of the Day – The Promise of Guidance

God's Promises Are Ever Faithful
God’s Promises Are Ever Faithful

Psalm 32:8,9 “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.”

Many times in the Bible believers are given the promise that God will guide. The above Bible verses are merely one example.

As the verses teach, a believer can expect God to guide them through the day. This does not mean an audible voice or a roadmap. He speaks primarily through the Scriptures, and in our hearts, and sometimes through the circumstances we face.

The only way a Christian can hear Him speaking, however, is to walk close to Him. This means putting away known sin and making yourself available for service – all day long. As you know, it is easy to get too busy to hear Him speaking in your heart, and then opportunities are missed.

The Christian that wants God’s guidance can have it. As God tells us in this verse, don’t be like a horse or other animal that has to be forced to go this way or that. God loves us and he does not force us to obey Him. The child of God should love the Lord and gladly want to do His will, since it leads to blessing.

Oftentimes, when you do not know what to do, it is good to stop and ask for guidance and sit down and spend some extra time reading the Bible. If an answer does not come right away, you may need to wait for it – but stay in the Word and prayer. Be careful not to make decisions before praying about them and making sure you really want His will alone.
