Bible Promise for the Day – A Reason to Be Bold

God's Promises Are Ever Faithful
God’s Promises Are Ever Faithful

Isaiah 41:10 “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

There are many occasions in the Word of God where the Lord tells His people, whether as a nation, or to individuals, to “fear not.” The times in which we live now certainly provide many reasons for some people to fear.

There is a lot of uncertainty on the horizon, as I mentioned yesterday, and events are lining up for even gloomier days – depending on how you look at it. Things like debates between presidential candidates are not always very helpful, either.

In spite of these things, God repeated His intention and command that His people should not be afraid. Why? There are three reasons given in this Bible verse:

  1. His Guaranteed Presence – “I am with thee”

If anyone should ask, what good will that do? His answer reminds us that He is our God – and He has unlimited power and wisdom!

  1. His Guaranteed Help – “I will strengthen thee”

Even though we may at times be weak in ourselves, or in our resolution to serve Him, yet He will give us strength, even when we have none.

  1. His Guaranteed Support – “I will uphold thee”

As long as God has a purpose for you and me on this planet, if you are saved, He can be counted on to uphold us as we do His work.

The results of His strength to undergird us should greatly embolden us to continue to go forward for Him. We must learn to draw nigh to Him first, wait on His perfect will for you, and then be sure to do it in His power and leading – not your own.

Too many Christians are silent for Christ today. Very few people around them, if anyone, even know they are believers in Christ. Many, I’m afraid, have been more converted by the world, than vice versa.

With promises like this, and by feeding frequently and daily on His Word, we ought to be like the Apostles who “turned the world upside down” for Christ. We have far more tools available to us to help spread the Gospel than they ever dreamed of, yet we fail to tell others. The difference is that they loved Christ with all their hearts and were filled with the same Holy Spirit Who is available to us today.

With promises like these of His support and help, let me ask: What are you doing for Christ today?

Bible Promise for the Day – Boldness and Love in a Troubled World

II Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

In today’s world, many people are afraid. The world situation really is not getting much better either, and prospects are not looking that great. Politicians are making promises, but they can do little without God’s help.

We certainly are living in a day when there are wars and rumors of wars, as the Bible tells us will be in the last days. On the other hand, the good thing is that it means that Christ could be coming very soon – possibly even today.

In spite of what is happening around us, it is the child of God who should be enjoying the greatest peace. This Bible verse tells us that if we fear, we are not as close to God as we should be.

Fear is a tool of the Satan, and he uses it to intimidate believers into silence. Instead of succumbing to fear, we need to go to God, submit to Him, and ask for boldness, as the apostles did in Acts 4. There are many people around us who do not yet know the message of the Gospel – that Jesus still saves the lost!

The apostles were threatened in Acts 4, but they were determined to obey God rather than men. The Holy Spirit empowered them with boldness, which does not mean being cocky, or rude. As a result of a fresh anointing of the Holy Ghost, the apostles spoke out in love, and under the guidance of the Spirit.

I also want to point out that the verse talks about a sound mind.” We cannot think or act as God wants if we are afraid. He will give us peace, and in that peace, we will be able to hear Him guiding us into His perfect will.

Bible Promise for the Day – Be Courageous and Get Strengthened!

Psalm 31:24 “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.”

There is no doubt that being one who goes forward against challenges will face some opposition. Every competitor in the Olympics knows this. Someone would tell them you aren’t good enough. Others might say that you would be better off living for a different goal. In spite of that, and with some encouragement, they kept on.

Serving Christ in a world of unbelief also has its challenges. There are others who do not believe in the life we live, and they wonder why we do it. They do not understand why we serve Christ, or why we do not do the things they do. Some will criticize us and try to make us miserable.

In spite of that, we know that God’s own Son died for us and He now lives within our hearts. He has changed us, and we are glad He did.

Discouragement will come from time to time, and we may become disheartened. It may also seem like very few people are going the same direction we are going. These feelings do not come from God.

God tells us, in this Bible verse, to be courageous. This will come from one place – time spent in Bible reading in the presence of God. He wants to give us courage and boldness to live and speak for Him.

As the verse says, if we will determine to serve Him, He will strengthen our hearts so that we can. There is no need to turn back. Remember God’s lesson to Paul: “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (II Corinthians 12:9). We will often discover we are strongest in Him when we feel our own weakness the most!
