Why Revival Is Needed

As I look around at churches and at Christians, I sadly must report that I do not believe that most Christians are revived. In fact, I honestly must say that I doubt most Christians today have ever seen one, either, and many other preachers I know agree. While I have attended some revival meetings lately, I cannot honestly say that I felt that there was a true revival in those meetings – the kind that only the Holy Spirit can produce.

I am not seeking in any way to belittle those churches or pastors, and I cannot set myself up as a standard. However, the truth is that we Christians need to see much more happening in our churches and in America than what is happening now. If there is any hope for either, we must get revived.

There is little doubt amongst many Bible-believing preachers that we are in the Laodicean church age, spoken of by John in Revelation 3:17,18: “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.”

John’s description (really the Lord’s description) of that particular church age is not a good one. It shows a church where the world seems to have impacted it more than the church impacted those around it. The people in it were more concerned about their own welfare rather than the welfare of those around them. They also had become comfortable in this world, rather than being pilgrims traveling through it.

A pilgrim, like Abraham, sees himself or herself as someone who is merely passing through this life, headed for a better one. They are not trying to earn their way, because Christ has already fully provided it for true believers. Hebrews 11:14,15 tells us that people who call themselves pilgrims or strangers here “declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.”

If we are truly pilgrims in that sense, then we need a different set of values, goals, and riches than what the world offers. Christ’s solution to the Laodicean church’s problem was: “I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.”

True pilgrims need to travel light, and not be bogged down with the problems and burdens this world presents to us. As we let Him open our eyes to the things He desires for us to be and to do, and to live for that “better country, that is, an heavenly,” we will discover that “God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.”

Oh what a day that will be when we see Him, and to know that He is not ashamed of us! If seeing Him does not excite you, my Christian brother or sister, revival is needed. We cannot please Him as we ought, souls will not be won, and rewards will be lost, if we are not revived. If you are not sure what that means, look at how the Christians of the New Testament lived. They boldly proclaimed His Name that others might also be saved and become part of the family of God!

Are you revived? May God help us to seek His face until we are. May He help you and me to not be part of the indifferent Laodicean church where Christ Himself was found to be outside – forgotten, ignored, and wanting to bless but unable to do so.

He waits for us to invite Him to be Lord (Boss), and when He is, He will revive and use you and me to have a greater impact on those around us.

God Bless,
Evangelist Mike Valles

America’s Desperate Need for Revival!

America needs the Bible and Revival
The Bible is the Answer to America’s Dilemma

Hi. This is Evangelist Mike Valles, an ordained independent Baptist preacher in Tennessee. I am starting this blog to talk about three main things greatly needed today: Salvation, Revival, and Real Discipleship. Of course, this also includes the state of the church today, and my text will be the Bible (KJV). I also aim to take a stand against some things, too. My greatest concern is the fulfilling of the Great Commission and the growth of believers.

Most believers know that there is a very great need in our land today for God’s real truth. It used to abound. Most politicians don’t even seem to know what truth is anymore. Not only were churches to be found most everywhere in this country in the past, but many of them could even be counted on to preach the truth of the Word of God.

Unfortunately, it is not so today. In addition to the problem of many churches closing their doors for lack of interest, many of them which remain open are no longer preaching the plain, unadulterated Word of God, or being careful to live and present it as God desires. God wants holy living according to His Divine plan! Some of them don’t even want to identify themselves as being churches anymore! The result of this dearth of God’s Word in many churches (and so-called churches) today is clearly evident: little saving truth, little guidance, and little power. No wonder America is in the present mess!

God’s real power in the church is often substituted by various activities. Instead of prayer meetings we have planning committees, instead of fasting we have feasts, and instead of witnessing we have sports and drama – but little fishing! The primary task of the church is not being carried out faithfully in most churches, and most Christians have not won any souls to Christ (let alone even know how to)!

May God help us to get back to the old ways of God’s Word – it worked! When followed properly, souls were saved, churches and Christians grew numerically and spiritually, and our whole nation was affected powerfully by it. Other nations also recognized that this land was blessed by God!

It is time for God’s true people – born-again Christians to get back to God and God’s way. Yes, it may be a little old-fashioned – but God blessed it! He always blesses when His truth is followed wholeheartedly! His Word needs no revisions or updates. God never changes!

God’s people need to humbly come back to Him and seek His face in prayer while there is still time! It seems to be running out! God, however, can turn things around at will! Remember that He said, in II Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” He has never rescinded His promise! Remember that in the Old Testament that whenever God’s people were truly repentant of their sin and really sought His face and pleasure – that God always forgave them and judgment was averted – time and time again!

Like many Christians today, I personally believe that time is running out, not only for America but also for our world as we know it. Our liberty to do our task as Christians and as churches is being limited. Now is the time to seek Him and revival. Every Christian needs to be asking God to let the revival in America begin in their heart!

Thank God that there is forgiveness through our precious Savior the Lord Jesus Christ! He paid for all our sins and will gladly forgive if we truly repent of indifference, lackadaisicalness, and worldliness. We need broken hearts and healing from sin. He is willing to help you hate it, too.

This is my first post on this blog. Will you join me in prayer for revival – which means a fresh and personal commitment to serve Christ with all your heart? If so, I invite you to sign up for my newsletter to receive revival news, information about new materials, news for Christians, and Bible truth.

Let’s seek God together that He may work through each of us for His glory!
