Bible Promise for the Day – Power Over the Enemy Called Satan

God's Promises Are Ever Faithful
God’s Promises Are Ever Faithful

James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

In a day when many people fear the Devil, and when Hollywood takes advantage of this fear for the sake of the dollar, the true child of God needs no such fear. Many people around the world fear the wicked one more than the Creator of all. Let me also add that Satan cannot be stopped by any earthly object – a Hollywood invention.

When a person gets saved by believing in Christ for salvation, the child of God gains a new Father – God Himself. The Holy Spirit moves within, and being God, He is infinitely more powerful than the created being called Satan.

This Bible verse is very clear in what it teaches. There are three statements in it, and the end result, seen in the last statement, is that Satan “will flee” when the terms are met. Of course, once he does that, he is defeated in his evil intent at that moment. Be aware, though, that he or his evil servants will be back.

Christian, the first term is to “submit” or surrender to God. This means a wholehearted surrender. Be genuinely surrendered to God to do His will. Really seek first the Kingdom of God and let His indwelling Spirit guide you.

Then, be sure to stand up to and “resist” Satan’s devices (temptations), and do not yield to them. Ask God to protect you and let Him take care of Satan. Keep your eyes on Christ and His great strength, and when you do, victory will be yours because of Christ’s power which already defeated Satan on the Cross two Millennia ago. Faith in Christ’s ability to deliver is the answer to Christian victory.
