Bible Promise for the Day – Getting Strength to Go On for God

God's Promises Are Ever Faithful

Isaiah 40:29 “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”

As the Olympics were going on recently, you can be sure that there were some Olympians who were competing almost at the point of complete exhaustion. Their bodies and brains were telling them to stop and quit – but they kept on going.

Depending on their particular sport, some of them found their “second wind” right about the time quitting felt like the thing to do. They kept on, and soon discovered new strength. Of course, Olympians expect this to happen, and instead of quitting too soon, some of them went on and won gold.

This is what the above verse is talking about for the child of God. Just when you feel like giving in to the flesh, or to the world, or to just stop serving God, that is when God is ready to strengthen you – but not before. He wants us to learn to give our all, and to trust Him to give us more strength when our own is just about completely exhausted.

If you are about ready to quit on God, as many have already done, keep on going, and you will discover the strength He promised. Remember that it comes when your strength is just about gone.

As in sports, too many believers quit just a little too soon. Had they kept going and looked for God to provide, they would have discovered that: “they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31). This Bible verse repeats the same idea found in our text verse, which appears just two verses earlier.

Our God does not give His strength too early. If He did, we might be tempted to think it was our own strength, and we would not give Him the glory. Because He usually waits until our strength is gone, there is no doubt about the Source, or where the glory belongs. BY remembering this principle, and keeping your eyes on God, you too may be able to win eternal gold!
