Psalm 37:23 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.”
As Christians, there will be times in your life when you do not know which way to turn. Our Lord has promised guidance, as we see in the above Scripture verse for today’s daily devotional.
David is a good example of this. There were times he clearly had God’s guidance, and there were other times when he did not know what to do. We also see that he usually waited on the Lord whenever he could.
On other occasions, decisions had to be made on the spot – sometimes they were life and death decisions. At those times, he did not receive clear and conscience guidance from the Lord, but looking over his life, it is undeniable that God was often guiding even in those decisions.
The key is that David lived to accomplish God’s will and to please God. He prayed often and stayed in the Word. When it came time for decisions, he sought God’s will carefully. At other times, his knowledge of the Word helped him to make the right decisions – and God guided him through those rough times.
Our verse for today tells us that God delights in the individual who is following His will. Yes, that includes regularly going to church, daily Bible reading, living a godly life, praying, etc. That individual has the promise that God will guide you through thick or thin times.
