John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

This verse is probably one of the most popular in the world, and it contains tremendous truths for the entire world. The first truth that all need to hear is that, in spite of all the trouble in the world today, God loves everyone in the world.

God’s end goal of that love is not to relieve the world of trouble or grief, as some people think He should – not yet, anyway, but it is to reconcile the world to Himself. Sin had caused an immense rift between God and mankind. Everyone is in the same boat. Many Bible verses tell us of this sin problem, such as this one in Romans 3:10: “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.”

Because God loved us, and wanted to bring us willingly back to Himself, He sent His Son to live with us, and then to die for us. Jesus’ death has paid for all our sin, but it must be accepted as payment for your sin. Anyone can be saved.

Since the full debt for your sins and mine has already been paid, all that is left is to receive God’s gift of pardon. The verse sums it up very well when it declares “that whosoever believeth in him should not perish.” They will escape Hell altogether and go to Heaven when they die – they are given eternal life.

Why will this happen? Simply because they received the forgiveness and pardon that God offered. Notice that the verse does not say that they will have eternal life if they keep the commandments, or if they join a certain church, or give up specific sins. No, all that is needed is to believe on Christ for the payment of their sins and their salvation. It is all in Jesus Christ. He became the Substitute that was needed.

Have you asked Him to forgive you, told Him you want to turn from sin and serve Him, and give you salvation? Today would be a good day for it.
