Getting God’s Grace When You Need It
Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
In writing about Christ in the Bible verses just before this one, the Apostle Paul tells believers how they can avail themselves of the priesthood of Christ – now that He has ascended. Since Christ become a human like us, but without sin, we know that He cares for us and is prepared to help us when we need it.
Verse 15 tells us that Christ experienced life as we experience it, and all the things that go with it. Because of this, we should not feel strange in coming to Him for help – even in the little things.
Christ’s life on earth was partly so that He could help those believers that need it. He offers help in the form of mercy and grace, and He gives it from the Throne of Grace. Note that it is not a Throne of Judgment, or of wrath – but of mercy and grace towards those who have been washed in the blood of the Lamb!
He invites you to come, dear Christian, in faith, when you need His help. The truth is that the more you seek and obtain His help, the stronger you will be spiritually, able to experience greater victory, and capable of even better service for Him. Do not ever fear that you will come too often.
