Salvation – God’s Way

Christ died for us.
It took the Cross of Christ to save us.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

One of the most blessed things to know is that you are on your way to Heaven. Just as important is that you are not guessing about it, but that you know you have followed God’s plan of salvation.

The above verse is probably the best known Bible verse dealing with salvation, and it gives a very simple formula. It first shows us that God does love us. He loves us so much that He sent Christ to die for us.

He did not have to do it. When you think about it, though, it is important to realize that God does not make a mistake. If it took the death of Christ to ensure our possibility of going to heaven, then it also means that we were not going there in the first place – or He would not have had to die for us!

The Bible confirms this for us in Romans 3:10, where it says: “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.” None of us would have made it if it were up to us. God is infinitely holy, and our sin prevents us from ever entering His holy Heaven.

Note also that we cannot earn our way to Heaven. It just is not possible to get there by being good or even by doing religious works. In John 3:16, the above verse, it declares that salvation is by believing only on what Christ has done for us.

What did He do? He paid for our sins. Not just some of them, but all of them – for all time. If you recognize your need of a Savior, Christ is just what you need. God sent Him to die for “whosoever.” This means there are no exceptions.

He loves you and wants to save you, but He will never force you. It is a choice you must make. Christ waits for you to tell Him you are sorry for your sin and to ask Him to come into your life and heart, and that you want to serve Him from now on. If you ask, He has said that you will “not perish, but have everlasting life.”
